Groundhog Day

Anyone else think that Ground Hog day is, well, silly?  Yes, the movie with Bill Murray is the best thing about the holiday.  I, myself, think that being reminded that there are six more weeks of winter an unhappy thought.  Yes, I love the lack of yard work and going sledding, but finding boots and mittens for careless children every day wears on you.
Winter is a beautiful season.  Everything is crisp and sparkly.  No other time of year can you look out your window and see diamonds in your windows and shining in the corners of your vision everywhere you look.  Stepping on the thin ice that forms over the tire tracks in your driveway while waiting for the preschool bus is one of my favorite winter waiting activities.  I love to see the way is cracks and what designs the pressure creates.  The sound is so satisfying, too.
Winter also gives me an excuse to wear my beautiful new coat that Santa brought me.  I feel pretty and thin in it and wear it even when the weather is warm enough for just a sweater.  That being said, I can't wait for it to be warm enough to go waking outside again without it.  I miss the daily therapy session with my friends and the endorphin high I get from the exercise.  Oh Spring, come soon.  I miss you.  I'll even take the mud is you come six weeks too soon.
What a cutie!  Can't you see how much she needs hours of uninterrupted outside play?

  1. These last couple of days in the 40s has us riding bikes outside and I just about can feel spring. Too bad another snow storm is headed our way...
GH Day is a very strange holiday. Not much science in it and not even a Reeses shaped rodent to make it worth it.

  2. I'm all about the Reeses. Too bad the snow is up to our knees and cold enough to freeze off protruding body parts (uh, that sounds bad, things like noses).
