Strange Miracles

My father is an amazing man.  He works hard and plays hard.  We have had a very scary, yet somehow peaceful, experience with him lately.  While driving to work from Spanish Fork to Orem, he swerved and hit a semi then bounced into the cement dividers.  This was in Springville.  He drove all the way to 8th North in Orem before he stopped because he heard something dragging.  HE DIDN"T NOTICE HE HAD CRASHED!!!!  He had been followed by a concerned citizen, thinking he was drunk, who had called the police.  When the officers found him, he started explaining and then passed out.  They rushed him to the hospital and did a battery of tests.  They believe is was a seizure, but had no idea what caused it.  They released him from the hospital with instructions not to drive for three months and to see several specialists to find out the cause of the seizure.
This was at the beginning of the month.  Now, we finally have an answer.  The heart valve that was operated on when he was 5-years-old is worn out again.  He needs heart surgery.  We are so grateful we found out in time to fix it, but what a way to find out.  At least he didn't hurt himself or anyone else.  We consider that a miracle as well.
So what does that mean for our little Southern Utah circle?  Well, it means Adam will need a place to play for about a week when Trent goes back to work after the baby is born.  Any volunteers?  I don't want to imposed or make you feel guilty because you can't help.  That is not my intent in announcing it this way.  If you can help out great!  If you can't, no problem.  We will figure out what to do and it will all work out.  (No, I did not mean to turn this post into a whiney, "what about me" forum.  But my Dad's heart surgery does impact us in the needing help area.)

I am so relieved for my Dad and that this problem is a relatively easy fix (if you can call heart surgery an easy fix) and not something that will be a constant maintenance issue the rest of his life.  He is in good hands and we pray that the surgery will go well and that his doctors' hands are guided.  We pray for a quick recovery and a good attitude.

  1. What a scary situation! How fortunate that he didn't get into a more serious accident on that nightmare of a freeway.
Good luck to him and you!

  2. Yah, that is scary and strange. Glad he's getting help and hope. As always, we wish we were closer to be able to help.

  3. I'm glad they found out what was wrong with your Dad and that it's a fixable thing. Do you want Adam to come live with us for a while? He's cute. I'd take him. The trick is getting him here!
