Field Day

Maybe I should have stayed home today.  I wasn't really useful because I had JD in the front pack and I had to keep an eye at all times on Adam playing at the "park."  We were there from 9:15 to 3:30 and it still was not enough playground time for used-to-be-Sweet Boy.  He threw a holy terror fit when it was time to go and it took several minutes of wrestling to get him into his car seat.  I guess he has been cooped up way too long and needed to get out.  Esther had a very hard day because people kept making fun of her so she wandered around by herself all day long.  Bennett and I hung out for most of the day and he had a good time.  I never saw Ava outside.  I snuck into her classroom to feed JD and she was there.  That is the only time I saw her.  I hope her day was fun.
On a different note our "field" or yard as most people call it is a disaster.  Our shed blew away and our lawn mower and weed whacker got ruined.  Yeah.  Living on an acre with no lawn mower creates a red neck feel to the place.  Our little neighbor boy came over so I could show him where to mow.  It is going to take him forever.  Poor guy.  Maybe we will actually have a yard soon.

  1. I volunteered at M's "field day" last week... and learned that the parachute (though it was LOADS of fun when we were children) is way too hot and sweaty to do for hours on end. Thank goodness for teachers making sure that parents got a break!

  2. I thought sheds could only up and blow away in Kansas?!

We have a love hate relationship with our field yard. The kids love it. I hate it.
It will be a sad day for all the neighborhood kids when we give up our weed sanctuary for some grass and shrubs. Can't happen soon enough for me but good news for them, it will likely take their entire childhood!

  3. That would have been a loooooonnnng day. I never volunteer for any activities that encroach on naps. The blessings of volunteering do not outweigh my sanity!
That's a bummer about your lawn mower. Hopefully the neighbor boy will be willing all summer?

  4. Poor Esther! Why were people being mean to her? That would be so hard seeing that as a parent. Good luck with your landscaping.

  5. People just being mean. The girl said she was a green booger eater and then said just kidding. I hate that. You say something mean and then you excuse it with a just kidding so that you don't feel bad. It doesn't work that way. Feelings are still hurt and you do mean it. BTW-She is not a green booger eater. That's why it hurt her feelings. She didn't want people to think bad things about her when they weren't true.

  6. It's a bummer that your being nice and volunteering had to be so hard. I'm sorry Esther was sad and Sweet Boy had to be wrestled into his car seat and that the mower and edger are broken and the shed is gone. Hopefully you at least got to enjoy the sunshine.

  7. Hey if the little neighbor boy can't get the yard caught up give us a call & Courtney'll drive our tractor over & mow it down. He's already done a few of the abandoned yards around here, yours would be no problem.
