The girls and I decided to see a matinee and go to dinner. I do not recommend what I ate. I picked something that was on the light menu and the flavors were not well coordinated. Too bad restaurants think that healthy has to be yucky. Oh well. We only had one family choice playing at the theater this weekend so we went to see The Croods.
The Croods is less crude than I thought it would be and Nicholas Cage probably delivered his best performance. I thought it was a little slow in spots, but it was visually stunning and touching. I laughed and almost cried. Esther liked that they made Eep a modern teenager in primitive times. Ava liked the relationship and conversation between Grug and the grandma. I liked Guy the best. I normally don't like Nicholas Cage and Ryan Reynolds, but this show pulled out their finer points and combined them to make a really good movie. I may have to let the boys see it soon; they would love it. Way to go Dreamworks, again.
