Repelling

The family went repelling this Saturday with a neighbor.  The kids whined until they got to go down  and then they started having fun.  Adam even got so mad about not wanting to go that he threw his helmet off the mountain.  The little stinker.  One of the teenagers that was in the group of friends that the neighbor boy brought along found it for us and Adam was able to go down the second time without a helmet over his eyes.  I find it interesting that for the amount of complaining he did, he did that much more talking about how much fun he had.  The kids are still talking about it and want to tell all their friends about the experience today.
So many life lessons can be drawn for this experience, but the one I want to take from it todasy is that complaining never makes the situation better and it can take away from the fun.  Too bad I don't have any pictures to post, we never took to camera out of the bag.  What a mistake.  I was too busy trying to keep the kids from falling off the mountain.  We finally tethered JD to another kid and that caused even more whining, but it resulted in safety and peace of mind that the sudden stop at the bottom of a fall wouldn't kill them.
So, no more whining, Michelle.  Find a way to thing positively about every event in your life and you will enjoy it more and be less frustrated about it.

  1. But I was whining just this morning! You mean I should stop? I do think you are right, complaining and whining doesn't help. Now I just need to convince myself of that when I'm tired and cold.
