Faux Swearer

I admit it:  I am a faux swearer.  I say dang, shoot, crap, stink, poop, and other silly things that actually mean a swear.  How about I try to stop?  Instead of saying, "Crap!" when I drop my keys outside in the dark, I say nothing.  Instead of saying, "Oh, bother!" when my kids spill their fruit cups all over the living room carpet, I say "Let's clean it up," in a kind voice.  I faux swear when I am frustrated.  I talk when I am frustrated.  So here is the plan, I talk less and think more.  What do you think?

By the way, it's snowing at our house.
p.s. construction on the doll house halted yesterday when I flooded it.  So, plans to finish yesterday were thwarted, but I plan on finishing today.

  1. Sorry, I am not with you on this one! Nothing relieves the inner anger faster than a quick faux swear for me as in "Shiz!" Then I can move on. True that a better person need not use oaths, but I need a little pressure peep every once in awhile.
I did go on a ban from raising my voice awhile ago. It was great for a few days, but then I realized that nobody could hear me if I was always reprimanding quietly....

  2. I realize it is a tall order, but I embarrass myself in front of people I admire--like your mother-- that have more self control.

  3. I faux swear so much I don't even know when I am doing it. And it is true, Megan says "SHIZ" a lot.

  4. At least you feel bad.. I always get told I shouldn't use slang but it never works...oh well maybe I will try to tame it down a bit.

  5. Wow- those are some nicely crafted snowflakes! I need to be schooled in the fine art of snowflaking.

Even my Mom says "drat" and "darn it" so I wouldn't feel too bad. The ultimate self-control is manifested by not using the real, more satisfying(?) swear words.
