Esther turned 12 on Saturday. I feel old. She is very intelligent and reads, now, like she is a junior in high school. She is the smartest person I know. She loves anything feminine and is had a beauty parlor sleep over for her second-in-her-life friend birthday party. Trent couldn't find an appropriate redbox, so the girls chose to watch Cake Boss on Netflix. Odd. We painted nails, too. Ava, said with a sigh, was invited, too.
Esther has a very strong sense of how she should be treated and anyone who violates this belief knows it immediately. She is teaching herself piano because her teacher went off to college and nobody else is convenient. Every once in a while Trent will step in and help her. She sings well also. She had a solo in her choir concert at Christmas and did very well. We were so proud of her even though she was supposed to wear black and white, not purple sequins. She marches to her own drummer and sometimes that gets her into trouble. She soldiers on anyway and is determined to forge ahead.
Her favorite thing to do is watch TV and her second favorite is to read. She came downstairs the other day weeping because her book was sad. She is very sensitive to emotion and one day will harness that emotional sensibility to achieve something amazing. She is a good babysitter and follows the rules of keeping everyone healthy, happy, and safe.
Esther has many talents and God loves her very much. We love her almost as much.
Well, if it makes you feel younger you can remember how old my oldest child is. But maybe that will just make me seem ancient! I hope that Esther really enjoys her friend birthday party and that everyone treats her well. Belated happy birthday from Aunt Sherie.
