I attended the Oquirrh Mountain Temple dedication today (I wasn't smart enough to understand why all of us had to attend the dedication instead of having church until oldest bro-in-law told us how important it was). I really quite enjoyed myself; except for the waiting and almost falling asleep bits. You see families are so important that the Church is spending billions of dollars, even during slow economies, on temples so that we can be eternal families and teach the world what family is supposed to mean. Most of us are pretty dense about that, including myself as mentioned before, so our leaders cancel church to make the "families are forever" point with the dedication. I like their style. When Hawaii was having their same sex marriage issue what did the Church do? They built another temple. Hmmm, see a pattern? Like I said before, I like their style.
Anyway, my favorite picture of the slide show before the program started was the one of that circular, diamond-looking chandelier. Beautiful. Did anyone else notice how the architecture, the interior design, almost everything about the temple forced the eye heaven-ward? Subtle and clever. I hope all of you enjoyed the grand event as much as I did.

Yes! I loved studying the design elements of the temple and that chandelier was AMAZING!
ReplyDeleteBrandon here. Is that trent or is that David Hasselhoff? I'm pretty sure if we had video instead of a still shot, he would be running in slow motion, pectorals bouncing.
ReplyDeleteTrent is totally running like david Hasselhoff! I bet he practices.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I liked the temple dedication too, though I had a hard time sitting 20 minutes before it began. Guess I have a little kid in me.
Trent here. When I got home, Michelle told me that somebody wrote a nice note on her blog about me. So I ate some delicious spaghetti (with squash in it) and then proceeded to see what it was, because I, like anyone, love receiving complements. I suspected something like "Way to go trent on cleaning the house before you went camping!" or "Good job at not losing it when your kids are all in paint," but no-- it was a superficial complement about me running on the beach like the Hoff! While it is true it is a good pic--at the time my handles are hard to find, etc., I still want to be appreciated for who I am--not for what 90's has been I resemble. Thank you.
