We gathered at the church as Activity Day groups and parents last night. A dear friend babysat the three younger so that we could enjoy the program. E bounced up and down with excitement. The program began, her turn came, she walked to the front, and stared out at us like a deer caught in our blazing headlight gazes. She sat back down and whispered, "I get embarrassed." That girl? Who told her about that. She never gets embarrassed by attention. Oh, well.
B had a talk yesterday. He spoke about our eternal family. I whispered in his ear, "Bare your testimony." He repeated, "Bare your testimony," into the microphone. I don't think it was our day for appearing at our best in the spotlight.
A started pre-school today. I thought school began at 1 p.m. I didn't know when her bus would come to pick her up, so at noon we went outside to wait for the bus. At 12:45 I lost patience and took her to school. Oh no, school started at 12:30 p.m. We were a half hour late. The bus came at 11:30. How I didn't see it out the window is still a mystery. Anyway, now we know. She was so thrilled to go that she let me brush her hair with only minor running away. That is a victory. Another victory: A potty trained herself. She has known how for two years, but chose not to use it, much to my disgust. She still wears pull-ups because #2 isn't as consistent. Soon we will not have that expense and all will be well with her. Three cheers for A!
cute picture of E---hey, maybe she isn't embarrassed around you but I sure couldn't get her to dance with me during the Monster Mash.
ReplyDeleteLove the B story and cheers cheers to A!
It stinks when kids learn about being embarrassed. Hopefully she'll grow out of it. As for B, does he have a testimony to bear? He's still just a young lad.
