Drowsy Drivers Exit Here

As I was driving to my parents house last night it began to snow.  It didn't bother me because it was the dry fluffly stuff that wasn't sticking.  The roads were completely dry.  My problem was drowsiness.  I have a new born, 'nuff said. So I ate crackers and krab dip.  Yes, it was very good.  Problem two:  I could not get cell phone reception and my battery was going dead.  I could not let anyone know that we were ok, especially my husband.  Then We had to stop to feed the baby.  I purchased some very expensive juice at a gas station grocery store in hopes that would give me the energy boost that I needed.  It did and we were on our way again.  Enter problem three:  the snow had started to stick to the road.  Between Beaver and Scipio we saw three accidents, one roll-over, one pile-up, and one slide-off.  We passed the ambulance going in the opposite direction and it was going about 30 miles an hour.  So were we.  I was definitely not tired anymore.
The kids were fighting, the, "She's touching me," variety and I decided that this was the worst car trip ever.  We finally arrived and the kids acted as if nothing had happened.  At least they recovered more easily than I did.  I called Big T and he was so relieved that we were alive.  Knowing someone else is happy you are alive gives you a boost.  I needed that.
If only they had acted like they love each other in the car.  Sigh.
After a night of different beds equaling less sleep I am still not recovered and I am hoping the party today with Big T's family will complete the healing process.  I never want to repeat that experience.

  3. I'm glad you made it safely too! winter driving can be stressful. you should have had your kids sing loud carols in your ear to keep you alert. Next time!

  4. That sounds miserable. It sounds like you did good things to stay awake and I am really glad you made it too. I hope your trip back was less dramatic.

  5. Nothing is worse than that drowsy driving feeling. Yelling at kids always keeps me awake.
