I had another waking dream it was about using the bathroom then having pancakes for breakfast. When I woke up and actually got out of bed, there was no milk for cereal. So pancakes it was. Sooo good, but no syrup. We usually have applesauce, but the kids wanted syrup. I began to make some but forgot to put the right amount of sugar. I realized my mistake and added more. The pot boiled over and as I began to clean it up it splashed on my fingers. This is the result:
I think my wedding ring is really pretty in this shot. The 3/16th inch blister, however, is not. The blister on my middle finger is also huge and not easy to see in the photo. The yellow is from soaking my hand in pickle juice all day. The cold and vinegar take the throb and pain away. I highly recommend it. This discoloration will only last a short while, a trade-off I'll take over a throbbing burn any day.
You can see my healing cut in the picture as well. I wonder what will happen to my hand next. I really hope the next post is not of the bloody stump after my hand is amputated. I have really grown attached to my left hand. It is so useful. At least I got a lot of sympathy at church when people saw my hand. The sweet lady that sits with us so I can feed the baby and Big T can lead the music held JD for most of Sacrament meeting. Life is good being a gimp. Now that my help is at work, I am worried about my accomplishments. The use of my other fingers is now limited and I'll have to relearn how to use my injured hand. I really, really hope this is not in preparation for something worse to come. Yes, I am a pessimist. I guess the Teepee I am making for my kids so they can play outside more in the heat of the summer will have to wait.
Do you have an effective way to deal with injuries like baking soda on a bee sting? Home remedies usually work and I may need them in the near future.
Ouch! I do NOT like getting burned because it hurts for so long. I don't know if I could stand to smell like pickle juice. Maybe if it worked really well I could do it. I don't have any good home remedies. I offer to kiss it and make it better but usually the kids decline my offer. I hope your burn gets better fast. I will think positive thoughts about you not having any more injuries.
ReplyDeletethe only thing I can think of is the paste of meat tenderizer on mosquito bites - I love how it takes away the itch :)
ReplyDeletethe pickle juice is news to me... I might try it, if I manage to have pickle juice the next time I get burned... but since I usually can't feel any pain in my fingers (the one blessing of neuropathy) then burns are really more ugly than uncomfortable!
Ouch that does not look like fun at all. Glad you had help at church.
ReplyDeleteNever heard of pickle juice either. We have burn ointment in our 1st aid kit that I always use if the kids get burned but I don't know how well it really works.
ReplyDeleteI hope your kids really enjoyed their syrup!
Aloe vera? I need to have a plant on the windowsill just for occasions like these. It will heal you right up.
ReplyDeleteThat burn remedy stuff that Megz is talking about is good stuff for instantly taking away the pain.I found some at w-mart-- wish I'd had it at Thanksgiving for Adam's hands.
