TMI

I have discovered that I possess a rare talent:  Nursing while doing other things.  Did you know it is possible to eat and nurse?  It is also possible to type and nurse.  I have become an expert at it.  I can even play the wii while I nurse.  Impressed yet?  You should be.
The reason I have to multi-task the important ritual is because I am feeding the baby, start to start, every two hours. He sleeps all night long and to get enough feedings in during the day a strenuous schedule is required.  My persistence and unique ability has proved worthwhile.  The boys had their well child checkups this week and we found out some very interesting stats.  My little baby, whom the Dr. was so worried about in the beginning, now weighs over 12 pounds and grown over three inches in a month and a half!  Can you believe it?  My babies are never big and this one is huge.  Way to be agile, Michelle!  Thank you, thank you!
Sweet Boy is a different story.  In this picture, he is the oldest by a couple of months and yet he is the same size.  The baby, however, is almost as tall as he is now (ok, not really, but it is too close for comfort).  Sweet boy only grew 3 3/4 inches this whole year.  We have been referred to a Primary Childrens' clinic to monitor the situation just in case something turns out to be amiss with his lack of growth.  Grumble.  I have heard that if you double a child's height at three then that is about what they will be as adults.  If his growth continues at a steady rate then he will be about 5'7".  That's ok.  If he doesn't continue to grow at a steady rate then we have a problem.  The shortness isn't the concern, it is the lack of growth.  So let's hope he has a growth spurt soon and my fears will be assuaged.

  1. That is pretty impressive and brings up some disturbing mental images (the Wii?? Really??).
I'm sure sweet boy will hit his growth spurt when it's least convenient--on his mission when you have to send him new suits.

  2. Hmm. I'm not sure I want to know how tall Jake was at 3. I don't think it was tall at all. I'm impressed with J.D.'s growth spurt and I hope that Adam has one soon so you won't worry.

  3. It's probably not comforting (given my height) but I did not grow a single iota from the age of 2 1/2 to 4 1/2... nothing...

The doctors (yes, plural) were all freaked out and ran a b'zillion tests... but then I started growing again...

never caught up of course... but short people live full productive lives I've heard :)

(and I actually got really good at nursing and cross-stitching one year...)
