When we were at Sizzler yesterday Adam told me he needed to go potty. This has happened only one other time. We ran to the potty, waited our turn (of couse it would be in use) and had a successful void. We went back to the table and he received a round of applause. I think we are making progress. Now we just need to work on number 2. Ugg.
I hate potty training. I took a class in college and we talked about ways to train your children. I have employed all of those tactics and invented some of my own and I still can't get my kids to use the toilet. I am blaming this on Trent. I was easily trained at 18 months, therefore it has to be his fault. Someday I will look back on this time of life with less angst, but not until I never have to change another one of my kids' diapers.
Today is Ava's authors' tea. We are honoring her class because they wrote a book and are published authors. Even though they published it themselves and we had to pay for a copy, it is still a big deal for the kids. Ava wrote about killer whales and she is now an expert on the subject (she thinks) and is more anxious than ever to return to Sea World. I told er we ave to wait until JD can enjoy the experience, too. Really we are just waiting so we can save enough money to go. I don't tink that will ever happen, but, hey, a girl can dream.
I also made some jewelry for my sisters to mach their dresses they will wear to the wedding. I think they are lovely, but, according to my sister, I am color blind. I hope the ladies like them and I don't have to start over. It took all afternoon. I was so absorbed that I forgot to make dinner. So I whipped up a batch of French Toast and then Trent and I ran to the caucus meeting.
I have never been to a caucus meeting before. The platform of the Utah Republican Party was read before the voting began. I believe every one of the statements and I wonder what the Democratic platform is. I wonder if they are the same and there is no reason for arguing. Apparently I am a staunch republican. I just wish people running who say they are staunch republicans actually followed the platform. I wonder if people who say they are republican have heard or read what they say they stand for.
That is why I hate politics. People do things that they don't believe in so they can get elected and the people who should be in charge won't go anywhere near the campain trail. I just hope that the over-handling of Mitt Romney stops and he scrounges up enough courage to be himself. I think his business sense is what we need to help turn the economy around. If the choice comes down to a mormon or a black man I hope people put away prejudices enough to see through all that and look at who would best lead our country in the hard times to come.
I hate potty training too. In fact, does anybody like it except for the end result? As for your jewelry making skills...I recall you had a knack for it that most of us SIL didn't, so I'm sure your hard work will pay off.
ReplyDeletePretty sure the demo party platform is quite a bit different. Good for you for going. Some places had triple the turnout from previous years. I know ours was more full than it's been.
ditto what Megz said. Our caucus meeting was packed and took a little over three hours. I always volunteer to count votes so that time will go by faster, so it didn't seem as long to me as to the people in the stuffy, hot room! It sounds like you are doing good things!
ReplyDeleteGiven the potty training aversion, I would advise against ever getting a puppy. We have a long road ahead.
ReplyDeleteI like what you said about the Republican platform. I also wondered what the Democratic one said, but it looks like Megz set us straight on that one.
I think things aren't as simple as they seem. Take Hatch for example, may people claim that he is not voting "republican" but I think once people a hold a governemnt position they learn that it isn't as black and white as they thought and there are numerous hoops to jump through. I think sometimes for the best interest of everyone they have to compromise. It doesn't mean that was what they wanted.
