Yoga and Horsey Rides

I love yoga; especially Biggest Loser weight loss yoga with Bob Harper.  I feel sore and strong all at the same time.  You should watch Trent do it with me, he he.  My sweet hubby did it with me once, and once was enough for him.  He has the Christensen family curse of not being able to touch your toes with a yard stick.  So there I am, palms flat on the floor in a forward bend and he is touching his knees asking me, "How do you do that?"  Since we have given up couple yoga, I do it some mornings after the kids go to school.  Do you see a problem yet?
For those of you past the toddler stage, you may have forgotten that whenever you begin exercising the little ones flock to you like they would to an amusement park ride.  They think you are a horse, or a tunnel, or a trampoline.  I should set up a video camera and record myself laboring to follow Bob's instrctions.  JD crawls underneath me and Adam hops on my back.  If I move, one or three of us gets hurt.  The pose is Downward facing dog not pony ride moving into squish baby.  Have you ever tried to balance on one leg while in warrior 3 asina with a kid on the lifted leg and one on your back?  Quite the workout.
I wonder if Richard Simmons ever made a workout video entitled "Sweatin' to the Oldies with a Monkey on Your Back."  Did Jane Fonda ever decide to wear a Snuggly during her Buns of Steel filming?  I doubt it.  So all of you friends and sisters (including in-laws) let's get together and make a workout video for mothers with young children.  Horsey Ride, London Bridge, and Fireman Carry can all be moves we incorporate.  Swinging a wiggly kid is a whole lot harder than swinging a kettle bell.  We could all wear mismatched pajamas and ill-fitting sports bras.  We could have potty breaks instead of pulse checks and diaper-changing samba moves.  What do you think?  Should we go for it?  It would be a whole lot more realistic than any other exercise video out there.

  1. Too true! Makes the moves a lot harder when you have an extra 30 lbs to use as resistance. As for that Bob Harper dvd, I guess watching that would get my heart pounding...

  2. Ha. Funny one Michelle.
It's so true. How many times have I nearly knocked a kid out doing a bicep curl? And nothing ruins a workout when you have to break 50 times to help the kids. Of course the second you'd want the kids 'involved' in the workout, they'd be done. But other than that let's go get some matching spandex and do our own workout video. That does sound fun!
