McDonald's Birthday Party

It is with great humility that I write this post.  I wonder why so imperfect me was given the privilage of being B's mother.  We held his first friend birthday party at McDonald's on Friday.  We sent the invites on time and even his teacher said the invite was, "too funny."  Friday arrived and one child showed up.  I was stunned and felt very concerned for my son.  We waited and waited.  No one else came.  We began the party and he asked, "Where are the rest of my friends?"  "I guess they couldn't come."  "Oh," and he played with his friend, ate his happy meal, and thoroughly enjoyed himself.  When it was time to leave, he said, "It's too bad my friends couldn't come."  He felt sorry for them that they missed such a great time and not sorry for himself.
No wonder we are instructed to be like little children.  He is an example to me in more ways than one.  I want to be happy like him, obedient like him, charming like him, and as kind as him.  I am truly honored to be his mother.

  1. I wish I could have that outlook! Good for B in seeing how it really is---that other people are losing out. And he looks as if he is having a ball. What a good example.
Sorry we missed the baptism for a special boy.

  2. Wow- who would want to miss a fun McD's party? I'm glad it was a good time. I'm always grateful there are siblings to cover any friend holes.
