It is official. I now have a child aging in the double digits. How can that be when I still feel 21? E woke up early--a very unusual occurrence. She was happy and almost obedient--even more unusual. She requested pancakes and eggs for breakfast. She went to school happy and prepared (I thought) for the day--another unusual experience. On the bus, she arranged with a handicapped boy to have a joint birthday party at the church at 3:30. As I am rushing out the door to go visiting teaching I get a call from a concerned mother about it. No there is no friend party, but when I get home she can come over to play. She is in so much trouble. I asked her about it and she said she was going to lie and say that she was riding her bike to the church for Activity Day. Oh, she is so dead. She is now responsible for washing all the crayon off the walls. Since I did not get a call from the boy's foster parents I assume he forgot. I am so grateful for the tip-off from the mom that thought something was fishy. A huge issue was prevented.
| Sorry about the angle. Big T is performing a song from Mary Poppins. |
| B is performing as Maria from "The Sound of Music." He drew the line at a costume. |
Silly girl! I'm surprised she used Activity Day as an excuse, she went just last week. I think the punishment should fit the crime better...like no friends or even miss the next Activity Day. Using cleaning as a punishment just reinforces the idea that cleaning is a bad thing to do. I'm glad she had a great day none the less...she is a wonderful girl and we will miss her in our Activity Day group. Happy Birthday E!
ReplyDeleteWow, she is a spit fire. Happy Birthday E.
ReplyDeleteFunny. I have heard of many a surprise B-day party where it was a surprise only to the parent...Fortunately my kids haven't come up with that concept yet.
ReplyDeleteLooks like it was a fun day nonetheless.
I'm glad that naughty E had a good birthday. I've mostly heard of kids who are told they can have three friends inviting 10. I guess she was taking the initiative on what she wanted? Ah well. The dancing sounds fun and E will learn to only plan parties with permission.
ReplyDeleteLooks fun! Funny too about Esther's plans. I love it!
ReplyDeleteI can't even remember which of my kids pulled a similar stunt... annoying at the time, but somehow MUCH funnier when it's not me. :) sorry!
ReplyDeleteSounds like E. will be ready to take charge and plan her own 11th bday party!
ReplyDeleteI like hearing about this new side of her...so funny.
