Woe Is Me

I spent yesterday morning at the school because I promised my hysterical E that if she went to school I would spend some time with her.  You see, she had missing assignments that she kept forgetting to turn in, therefor she did not get into the honor society for the second quarter and did not get to go on the field trip.  Harsh lesson that must be learned.  The words "Woe is me," did not come out of her mouth but that was the basis for her sorrowful fit.  She was lucky that I was able to go at all because the Mazda is still in the shop and I have trouble with the Honda.  (At least $700.00 and a week wait do not make it possible for all of us to attend the baptism this weekend, but T and some of the kids will come in the Honda.)
Awhile ago the kids were playing in the Honda and broke off the security stick.  The chip was still in the port, but you have to push really hard to get it situated just right.  I haven't been able to start the car since, until yesterday.  Minor miracle.  So with Sweet Boy off to a baby sitter, I sat with E all morning and policed her schoolwork.  To my amazement, she worked very hard and got all of this quarter's missing assignments done as well.  Good girl.  Now if only she would work really hard everyday we wouldn't have the missing assignment problem in the first place.
Thrilled about his mischief when caught being naughty.

A's best side, another bum self portrait.
When the kids got home, they got into the pudding and jell-o.   I made the pudding, but put up the jell-o.  When A came up for dinner she was green all over.  I guess pudding wasn't enough, jell-o powder is tasty, and my hiding place wasn't very clever.  She then spent her time collecting change around the house and putting it into a container.  She wants to save up so that we can go to the movies.  I wondered where she got all this money; she had raided my wallet.  Again, my hiding place was not clever enough.  As I was putting baby to bed, I noticed he had green lips.  Kisses from A are a must, apparently.  She was forced into the tub this morning and then refused to put on her shoe until I cleaned the green powder out of it.  How does one get jell-o powder in a shoe?  I am afraid to find out what other messy eating habits she has.  Does she eat with her toes?  Does she lick spills off her belly button.  I don't think I want to know.  When a kid eats boogers they will eat anything else that is green except for vegetables.  Go figure.

  1. How sad that she missed the field trip! I'm surprised the teachers didn't let you know before they eliminated her chance.
Too bad about the car! Unplanned expenses are the worst.

  2. She did send home a note, but I didn't get it until it was too late. So we spent a weekend catching her up and she didn't turn them in again. Serves her right.

  3. Yep, those are hard lessons but I'm glad she worked hard to catch up. I'm glad you miraculously got the car started there and back too. I loved the picture of Adam and at least I didn't see any green jello powder on Ava's bum.

  4. Darn it that you're not all able to come. Cannon likes to get into the chocolate milk powder, among other things. I guess we all have to get our sugar fix somehow.

  5. lesson learned... now to hope that it sticks... we've played weekend catch up one too many times with some of the kids - some have learned the lesson the first time around and some... well... some need a swift kick in the heinie if "some" wants to make it to college!

  6. I had the opposite problem with Ike trying to calm him down cuz he had misplaced a science worksheet and couldn't handle the thought of having his 'first' missing assignment. And I was frustrated that I got home from taking kids to school to see Mitch's signed homework sitting right on the table. I prefer the days where no accountability is expected or required.
