Two For One

First off--Happy Birthday E.  She is now 10.  How did that happen?  She used to be so little.  Things are happening that I never thought I would have to deal with.  For instance, on Sunday she wore my shoes to church.  Wow, she's got different feet at her age than I did.  I have also had to buy her supportive under garments at 9.  My mother didn't notice I needed this type of thing until I was in a play and she saw little poky things under my shirt.  Instead of, "Good job, honey," I got, "You need a bra."  Scarred me for life.  Also, E is so smart we rarely have to study for spelling.  She comes home with 100% on the pretest.  Never in my life have I done that.  Spell check is my best friend.  I also thought I would never be answering the questions, "Does this make me look fat?" and, "Do I look hot?"  She did not learn these things from me.  I never ask questions I don't want to know the answer to.  Look for a more flattering post about her tomorrow replete with pics of her fifteen tries to blow out her candles tonight.
Second--B had a great pack night.  He was so excited to get his upside down Bobcat.  i couldn't quite capture his gleeful grin, but it was there until his face turned red from being upside down so long.  He had a lecture about how to take care of his scout shirt before he was allowed to put it on.  Mainly it was, "Do not use it as a napkin."  In one ear and out the other.  I already need to wash it.
He loves cheetos and sloppy joes.  Not a good combo for keeping brand new scout shirts pristine.  Cookies and jell-o are also a messy eating experience.  Too bad he was the only one with problems; I would have much preferred A or Sweet Boy soiling their clothing.  He had a great time and that is all that mattered.
Needless to say, he has already lost his kerchief slide.  Good thing I bought an extra.  He felt very important and honored; as did I.  This is the first thing I have encountered with my children where the mother is honored along with the boy.  What a great program.  I used to be upset with scouts because the girls do not have something on the same level, but now I will focus on the good it does and try to make my girl feel just as important.  Thanks and appreciation to you cub leaders and parents who made this night possible.  You always do such a good job and I am very grateful.

  3. "You need a bra" totally sounds like something my mom would have said.
Addie can't wait until she can fit in my shoes. Actually PJ can't wait to fit into my shoes too.

  4. I think scouts is way fun if you have great leaders. So I'm also very thankful for all the good ones who put all the time into helping out my kids.
Happy Birthday to Esther! Hopefully it only took her a couple tries to get the candles blown.

  6. Tia wore my shoes yesterday but I don't think my girls generally like my shoes enough to want to borrow them. I'm thankful for good cub scout/scout leaders too. I'm glad B. had fun.

  7. Oh, what a bad aunt! I forgot to say happy birthday to E. If it took her lots of tries to blow out the candles I hope she found it as amusing as Jake did when it took him so many tries!
